Imagine you are scrambling to get your meal finished before your guests arrive for Easter Dinner. You will barely have enough time to getyourselfcleaned up and dressed, and the last thing you have time for is filling a bunch of deviled eggs.

I've got an easy solution to your problem.

Cut your hard-boiled eggs in half, make your favorite deviled egg filling, then throw together a deviled egg display that will only take minutes and surely impress your guests.

Ingredients

hard-boiled eggs - See my Deviled Egg Footballs recipe for the best recipe to make easy-to-peel hard-boiled eggs.
Deviled egg filling ingredients - I add Miracle Whip to the egg yolks and call it a day. You can add mayo and seasonings if you prefer.
green onions, scallions, or even celery - Use these to make the daisy stem and leaves. (I'm sure you have something green in your fridge.)

Instructions

Peel your hard-boiled eggs. Cut them in half and separate the yolks and whites. Break up the yolks into a bowl and make your deviled egg filling. I simply add a little Miracle Whip and mix it into the yolks.

Arrange 8 egg white halves cut side down in a circle on a platter.

Spoon some deviled egg mixture in the center of the egg whites.

Add a green stem withsome grass or leaves (how about a few spinach or basil leaves.)

Make as many daisies as you'd like, then spoon the remaining deviled egg mixture into a bowl, set the remaining hard-boiled egg whites around the bowl, add a spoon to the bowl, and have your guests fill their own eggs.

They'll be so impressed by your daisy, they won't think a thing of making their own deviled egg.

You're done, now go get dressed.

Roxanne Chan dressed up these Deviled Egg Daisies by filling her eggs with a mixture of egg yolks and butternut squash.Very creative. I just love the frilly dill grass she added to the bottom of her serving platter.

FAQs

How long before an event should you make deviled eggs? ›

Prep deviled eggs too far in advance, and you'll have dried out filling and stinky boiled egg whites. For the best results, prep your deviled eggs up to two days in advance and keep the egg whites and filling separate until you're ready to serve. This prepping method also applies if you're not even leaving the house.

Why do people put paprika on deviled eggs? ›

The paprika will determine the depth of flavor of each bite. You can garnish with any kind (hot or sweet Hungarian, or hot or sweet smoked), but the better the quality, the more complex the flavor.

What do you put in the middle of a deviled egg dish? ›

Horseradish, caviar, chives, crumbled bacon, chopped cooked shrimp, lump crabmeat, baked ham, deviled ham, jalapeno, finely chopped green onion, finely shredded cheese, fresh salsa from the deli, sweet baby gherkin pickles, sliced into thin strips, and chopped pimento are also a few good suggestions.

Why are deviled eggs only good for 2 days? ›

Deviled eggs are best consumed within 4 days, provided they've been refrigerated promptly and stored properly. Deviled eggs have a shorter shelf life because they contain a filling, usually made with mayonnaise or yogurt.

Is it better to make deviled eggs day before or day of? ›

Deviled eggs are served chilled, making them an excellent make-ahead dish. At a minimum, you'll need to allow for 20 to 25 minutes of chill time before serving. You can make deviled eggs up to 2 days in advance; be sure to store the egg whites and the yolk filling separately.

Should I boil my eggs the night before for deviled eggs? ›

I cook the eggs the day before and (when cooled) cut them in half. I prep the egg yolk mixture (and refrigerate). I place the egg whites, cut side down, onto 1-2 paper towels in a container with a lid. I put one or two paper towels between each layer of egg whites.
