Healthy Coffee Creamer Recipe Round-Up (1)

Hello, friends! Today I’m popping in with a quick chat about coffee creamers.

What do you think?

Are Coffee Creamers Healthy?

First, I’m not that concerned about what you put in your coffee unless A) it’s a daily shot of Bailey’s or B) you A LOT. Otherwise, I’m much more concerned with the amount of vegetables and protein you consume. But, if you regularly get enough of those and want to start getting into the nitty gritty, then we can pick apart coffee creamers.

Coffee creamers vary WILDLY on a range of “healthiness,” so it’s not yes or no. As any good lawyer or Dietitian would say, it depends.

Here are some ingredients you might find in a coffee creamer:

  • milk of some variety
  • nondairy milk of some variety
  • preservatives
  • additives
  • thickeners (such as xantham gum)
  • artificial and natural flavors
  • sweeteners
  • artificial sweeteners
  • natural low-calorie sweeteners like stevia or monk fruit

Ideally, the fewer ingredients and the more recognizable real food ingredients, the better. Personally, I prefer half and half. When I have to be dairy-free, I prefer Ripple half and a half (not perfect, but okay.) If you need some sweetener, a few drops of stevia should do. But, not everyone can roll that way. They need a more traditional coffee creamer. I understand! Spend some time reading in the grocery store to find the one with the least ingredients, least chemicals, and most real food that sounds acceptable to you. If you find a couple of versions of real food natural coffee creamers, then pick the lowest sugar (without artificial sweeteners.)

And if you want to try your hand at making your own healthy homemade coffee creamer, try one of these recipes below! These recipes are rounded up from HH and from other healthy living bloggers. They range in sugar content, email readers Click Through For The Recipes
