I enjoy the restaurant staff and the restaurant itself. The food is wonderful and their chicken filling for enchiladas, tacos , ect., is wonderfully seasoned and made in house. This restaurant makes their own beautiful, chicken tamales served with a sauce. If you have not tried a tamale, do so here. They are delicately seasoned and are such a delicacy to experience. This is a family style restaurant but I have seen business lunches there, too. The location on Guess Road is easy access with much free parking.

We’ve been coming here for years. My family and I love this restaurant. The food always tastes wonderful and the staff are all so kind. I usually get different things each time, but the California burrito and Camerones a la diabla are favorites. My little ones like the decorations around the restaurant too.

Everytime my husband and I go here, it is delicious! The salsa is just right, cheese dip hot n melty, comes in a larger bowl which is how we like and the cheese enchiladas and soft/hard Chicken tacos are so delicious and flavorful! The rice is really good too! Only thing that i would say is not the best is the ground beef is very bland and has no flavor or seasoning. We will always go here and we recommend it to many people in our area now! <3 Service here is good too! Thank you!

Upscale authentic Mexican food in a laid back atmosphere. Very attentive staff. Generous portions. Handicap accessible parking and dining area (there are two entries, handicapon the left). Full bar. Try the Pollo Parrilla just to watch everyone else at the table wishing that they did. That sizzling pan is the call of the siren. Pizza and French fries for the unadventurous littles.

My daughter always orders A C rice with shrimps.
I love the Yolanda's.dish but I ordered something different, The Nuevo Guadalajara dish. Very tasty.

The service is awesome. The atmosphere is nice and peaceful. Prices are good. Never too crowded. It's our go to for Mexican.

I always order my "Caldo de pollo", (Mexican Chicken Soup, original), to go ☎.

I have been coming here since they opened, and even earlier when the great employees at matatlan used to run las palmas on Duke street many moons ago. The food is top notch, the service is second to none, and the people who work there are awesome in every way. This is one of my favorite “hidden gems” in north Durham. They also have a killer Texas margarita 24oz deal that is amazing!

Look. I am not a Mexican food aficionado. I wouldn’t be able to recognize authentic from Tex Mex from whatever other variety. What I can tell you is the food is delicious. It comes fast. It isn’t particularly expensive. There is a lot of it and most importantly they love on my little two year old. The people that work there are fantastic. Also, don’t let the outside fool you. It’s like the Tardis. Way more awesome in every conceivable way on the inside than the out.

This place is amazing! Everyone here is super friendly, right down to the guy who busses tables. The wait staff is really nice, patient and attentive. The food? So good I want to slap someone! So good! I got the Arroz Con Pollo, and it was the best I have ever had. Hubby got a steak, eggs, hashbrown with beans dish and that steak had me ready to wrestle him for it! Omg! So great! If you are near, you have to try it. But order your own steak, cause no one wants to share something that good!

Went here for lunch with a co-worker and had a wonderful visit. The staff are friendly and the service is fast. The chicken taquitos we're delicious. They kept our drinks filled and gave my friend a to go cup. The atmosphere is typically for a Mexican restaurant, vibrantly colorful and relaxed.

People always ask why I don't go anywhere else for Mexican food but Matatlan. Simple answer, because the food is always great and the staff is awesome. I will be a client for life and Fidel is always friendly and I enjoy talking about Soccer while enjoying the best food in town.
